With ACA Threads having yarn dyeing and winding facilities and supplying various industries who utilize our yarns and threads, it is vital for us to ensure that we can remain a reliable partner to those industries. That is why continuous improvement is part of the ACA Threads DNA.
We know that this can only occur if there is a committed effort to stay abreast with industry innovation and best practices.
An opportunity to do just this, was when some of our colleagues attended ITMA in June, a Textile and Garment Technology exhibition, held every 4 years in Italy. ITMA showcases the latest processing technologies, machinery and materials.
In addition, employee training and education is an ongoing investment. As part of our Health and Safety protocol, we train employees in First Aid and Fire Fighting. We also enroll employees to become qualified hyster drivers; ensure our employees are kept up to date on their computer, sales and leadership skills; continuous in-house technical training for our Customer Service Team, to ensure that when our customers call that they are proficient in handling any queries that they may encounter – to mention but a few.
Our employees are also encouraged to continue learning on their own and can apply to the company for this. We’ve seen employees gain various qualifications which have supported them in their growth with the company and help forge their career paths.
Continuous Improvement extends beyond us expanding our knowledge for the benefit of our business operations, to our customers and the industries we supply.
ACA Threads sponsors learnerships with various TVET colleges and universities, offer internships and regularly do educational tours of our manufacturing plant.
We have a strong technical team who support our customers - whether it is assisting machine operators, troubleshooting and finding solutions for issues in their sewing or embroidery operations, or doing one of their “Threaducation” sessions. Our technical team are focused on sharing their knowledge.
Our Threaducation sessions are formalised training, which our technical team members conduct with our customers and at other training institutes, as part of their programs.
It is recognized nationally that skills development within the CTFL industries is required, if we wish to realise the vision of seeing more people employed in those sectors.
We were honoured to be recognized for our contributions to this goal when we were given an award at the Cape Clothing and Textile Cluster AGM.
Looking ahead, we will continue to gain and share knowledge to help improve and elevate all those involved in the CTFL sectors.
