THREADUCATION at Ingcambu Dealing Information Centre, Gugulethu
JULY 2022 - Andile Apleni the founder of Ingcambu Dealing Information Centre approached ACA Threads, asking us for assistance with his sewing program that he runs at his centre.
Our technical team put their heads together to see how we could assist Andile and his students. Two of our technical consultants, Brian Roelf and Riccardo Knoop then set out to conduct a training program for the students at Ingcambu.
Through this training program, which is now fondly refer to as “Threaducation”, we provided students with valuable information, which we know from our experience, will provide them with solid foundational skills, which are in relative short supply across the various industries where sewing takes place.
Some of the topics covered in the Threaducation program are:
- Sewing thread construction & what makes a good sewing thread and why
- The different types of threads
- Which threads are used in which applications
- How to thread a machine correctly
- Needles – structure, types & when to change
- How to maintain your machine
- Some basic trouble shooting
- And much more
The students were curious and engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the three days of training that we provided. Each student also received a certificate of completion which they accepted with pride.
